The following position is available at the Faculty of Computer Science of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences from summer semester of 2025 or later:
Professor for Media Informatics with a focus on XR and Games Engineering
We are looking for a qualified personality (f/m/d) who represents the topics of extended realities (XR) and/or games engineering in teaching and research, particularly regarding our interdisciplinary degree programs Interactive Media (BA) and Interactive Media Systems (MA).
Your responsibilities:
- Teaching in Interactive Media (BA), Interactive Media Systems (MA) and basic courses of the Faculty of Computer Science in German and English
- Active participation in the further development of the department and in digital learning formats
- Active part in administering academic affairs
- Involvement in applied research projects and transfer of technology and knowledge
Your profile:
- A university degree preferably in the field of Computer Science or comparable courses of study
- Excellent academic achievements in research and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent academic qualification
- Professional technical competence and experience in at least one of the following topics: virtual and extended reality (XR/VR/AR/MR), technical conception and programming of computer games, distributed architectures for computer games, mobile game platforms, or tools for game development
- A minimum of five years of work experience, during which outstanding achievements in the form of applying or developing scientific discoveries and methods have been demonstrated. This period of work experience must have taken place after completion of a graduate degree and at least three of the five years must have been spent working in a non-academic context. If, over a period of at least five years, a considerable portion of your work involved a cooperation between a university and a non-academic employer, this time may be considered to meet the requirements for non-academic work experience in some cases
- Aptitude for teaching
- Professional experience in technical development of entertaining and/or educational games as well as experience in procurement of third-party funds and implementation of research projects is desired
- An innovative, communicative, team-minded and solution-oriented personality
- Ability and willingness to engage in interdisciplinary work and the use of modern teaching methods

- Compensation based on the Bavarian Salary Act, grade W2, additional bonus payment possible
- Appointment to civil service can take place for appliers who have not yet reached the age of 52
- Current scope of teaching obligation 18 semester hours per week
